Class Policy

Register in person, by mail, or telephone using charge card, check or cash. All classes must be paid for upon registration. There are no refunds on classes. If you cancel 12 days in advance, you will be issued a store credit. If you can't make it, send a friend. If we cancel the class, we will let you know at least 24 hrs. in advance and you will receive a store credit or refund. You will receive a materials list upon payment of fees Class supplies may be purchased before class. To help us keep the roof over your head during class, we appreciate it if you purchase your supplies at The Quilted Fox and we will give you a 10% discount for class supplies purchased at registration. We cannot call to remind you of a class meeting. Your registration is your reminder. Also, the class you pay for is the class you must take. Any make-up will be made at the teacher's discretion.

#345 – Bargello Heart-- $40

This design is from the book “Bargello Hearts” by Nancy Podolsky (1996). It is a design very conducive to any colorway and fabric style. The results look complicated, but rotary cutting and strip-piecing techniques make completion a heart-pounding adventure. The size is called the Basic size and finishes off to 53 X 60 without borders. Two simple borders make the quilt about 63 X 70—a perfect size to cover the one you love. AB

#100 -- Beginning Hand Piecing-- $65

This four-session class will take you through all the basics of hand piecing, including fabric selection. You will be making a table runner or wall hanging—your choice. Even if you have never held a needle or just need to learn the tricks to make it simple, this is the class to take. Suggested second class is #105 which covers hand quilting. B

#101 -- Beginning Machine Piecing -- $65

This five-session class will cover everything you need to know to make your first quilt top. It will include fabric and tool selection, rotary cutting, machine piecing, assembling your quilt top and adding borders. Suggested second class is #114 Machine Quilting. B

#105 – Traditional Hand Quilting -- $21

If you have ever wanted to create an heirloom quilt or just relax and do hand work, come learn how to do a beautiful quilting stitch, how to layer, mark and quilt a small sample. Tools of the trade will be covered. B

#110 -- Hand Appliqué Technique Workshop-- $50

Want to improve your appliqué skills? Anne's intensive one-day workshop will teach you different ways to prepare templates, make stems and berries, and use reverse appliqué to best advantage. You will make pages of techniques that will be a permanent reference for you. Some appliqué experience advisable.

#112 – Introduction to Hand Appliqué-- $60

Learn the basic skills and techniques of hand appliqué, including preparation of appliqué shapes using freezer paper and templates, marking for needle-turn appliqué, reverse appliqué, appropriate hand appliqué stitches both invisible and buttonhole, techniques for sharp inner and outer points, and techniques for making bias stems and circles. #114 -- Machine Quilting -- $40

Using a practice muslin “quilt,” we will learn the basics of machine quilting. We will cover basting, anchoring, stitching in the ditch, and straight line quilting. We will then drop our feed-dogs and explore stitching both motifs and backgrounds with free motion quilting. B

#118 – Color Workshop -- $20

#121 -- East Quilts West -- $7.00 each class

Learn to expand your horizons by making a block each month that allows you to try new colors, patterns and designs. In class we will discuss what colors and patterns work well together but which are not predictable. East Quilts West by Kumiko Sudo is used in the class. You must take the color workshop (#118) before starting this class. (Note: July classes are changed to a week later due to the July 4th holiday.) AB

#130 -- Learn Machine Appliqué -- $21

Do you like the look of appliqué but don’t like to do hand work or just want it fast? Try quick and easy machine appliqué. In this class you’ll learn the technique that you can then apply to any appliqué project. Requires a sewing machine with an adjustable zigzag stitch. AB

#135 –Advanced Hand Piecing: The Lemoyne Star Sampler-- $7 each class

From the book by the same name, learn to make this exciting design! Making the blocks and assembling them are much easier than it looks. Laying out the blocks and designing your quilt is lots of fun. Your quilt will always be uniquely yours with this fun method. This is a continuing class meeting monthly. I

#140 – Discovering the (Quilt) Artist Within-- $65

Have you always wanted to try some new techniques to embellish your quilts and fabric creations? Here is your chance to learn. Join us for four sessions where we will learn to use paint sticks, Angelina, Misty Fuse, fabric beads, painted webbing and more. Some fabric art supplies will be included in class fee. You will make a small (4 x 6”) sample each session using different art applications and techniques. This can be for a fabric postcard, part of a sampler or a reference. B

#205 – Fran’s Placemats -- $21 per class or $45 for 3

These seasonal placemats, designed by our dear friend, Fran Rubin, will be taught monthly. Each month for a year a new placemat is offered that will symbolize that month. You can sign up for just one month or sign up for all three classes for the quarter. What fun to have different placemats for the table; napkins will be covered as well.

#225 – Borders and Binding -- $21

#250 – Piping Hot Curves --$30

Piping Hot Curves will teach how to make tiny, perfect piping and insert it into curved block designs while avoiding curved piecing. The technique may be adapted to traditional curved block designs as well as contemporary designs. Piping adds a distinctive flair to curves! AB

#335 – Kids Can Quilt -- $40

Students (age 10-18) learn the fundamentals of quilting. Student must bring own sewing machine and know how to thread and operate the machine. Students will produce a rail fence quilt top. The class is limited to four students.

#345 – Chinese Lanterns-- $40

This is a great design for beginning to intermediate level quilters although advanced quilters will enjoy the quick results of making this quilt. The use of strip cutting and fabric flipping techniques of one or many colors on a unifying background make for a unique look that reflects the maker’s personality. There are great spaces to show off quilting designs from simple to complex. During class we will complete at least 4 blocks. AB

#395 – African Sunshine-- $30

African Sunshine is a bold, asymmetric design from Jan Krent'z book Hunter Star Quilts.
It features a wide variety of African fabrics set on a neutral background. Unlike most of the hunter star quilts, these stars are subtle because they use the same colorful prints as the rest of the design. Kaffe Fasset fabrics would also be a great choice for this quilt. I
